Dad was accepted to MIT with a scholarship, but was unable to attend because of family responsibilities . . . He always wanted to play the piano, but had no time or money to learn, so he taught himself to read music enough to play hymns on the piano and sing along . . . But he made sure that his daughters learned to play the piano, his son the violin!
