NO MAIL?

For the first time in Marash Girl's memory, mail will be delivered only 3 days a week to the residents of her city, a suburb of Boston, according to the local United States Postal Service. This change in the United States mail delivery schedule may cause issues for folks who depend on mail being delivered 6 days a week . . . whether for business or for personal matters. If you live in Newton, Massachusetts, or care about what happens with the United States Postal Service, please call the powers that be at the United States Postal Service, or Mayor Fuller’s office at Newton City hall . . . 617-796-1000 . . . or email the Mayor at rfuller@newtonma.gov to express your concern . . . that is, if you are concerned! And if you have time, perhaps calling the Newtonville Post Office itself at 617-244-2355 will help. These things begin in a small way, but if not "nipped in the bud", as it were, . . . well, you know where this is going! Please forward this notice to others who may be concerned, as well. This is a democracy, and the voice of the people must be heard! Or is Marash Girl becoming too dramatic? She thinks not, as she knows what happened in Marash when the people's voices were not heard!

Starbucks Drops Vaccine Mandate For Starbucks' Massachusetts Workers!

Marash Girl recently learned through reading an article in the Newton TAB that Starbucks has suspended its vaccination mandate policy for its workers, including its workers in stores in Massachusetts, thereby reflecting a Supreme Court ruling blocking a federal mandate. Because of this action on the part of Starbucks, Marash Girl and Marash Boy, (who typically purchase coffee and treats on a weekly basis from their local Starbucks) will suspend their visits to Starbucks.

On Martin Luther King Day, Marash Girl Remembers Marching With Rev.Martin Luther King To The Boston Common In 1965

On the day of the march, April 22, 1965, an unknown woman (on left in photo above) approached Marash Girl (on right): "I'm half Armenian," she said. "May I march with you?" Together the two women carried the sign pictured here, marching from Cambridge to the Boston Common. The sign announced, "Armenians for Freedom for All!" N.B. Elizabeth Warren On Reducing Gun Violence

I meet mothers and fathers, sisters and brothers, grandmothers and grandfathers who have lost children and grandchildren to gun violence - communities of people whose days will forever be marked by loss. I meet them, and I promise we will not forget. The facts are simple: over 100 Americans die every day from gun violence. Five of those people are children or teens. That's five a day, every day - young bodies piling up by the thousands year after year. If five children were dying of a mysterious illness every day, our country would do everything in its power to stop it. We must do the same for the epidemic of gun violence. Massachusetts has some of the toughest laws in the country. But strong gun laws in Massachusetts won't stop someone from going to a gun show in New Hampshire or Maine, states that don't require a permit or license to buy guns, and bringing those guns across the border. Congress must act. Our communities have demanded action to curb gun violence, but the Senate continues to fall short. When faced with the chance to vote for a bipartisan compromise to ensure that universal background checks prevent dangerous people from purchasing guns - something that 90% of Americans support - a minority of U.S. Senators blocked reform in 2013, again in 2015, and again in 2016. I support measures to improve background checks for gun purchases, increase penalties for gun trafficking, limit the size of ammunition magazines, and reauthorize the expired ban on military-style assault weapons. I will continue to speak out and to support efforts to pass a comprehensive set of reforms to reduce gun violence. There is no single solution for ending gun violence, but we must do better. We must honor the memory of those we have lost to gun violence and protect our children and families from these terrible tragedies. I will keep your thoughts in mind as I continue to look for other steps we can take. A Toss In The Hay?

In discussing the political climate of the day, a long-time acquaintance of Marash Girl soundly approved the President's latest appointment to the United States Supreme Court. "Why should we help kids who have just had a night of it?" she asked . . . or as she put it, "Why support kids who have just had a toss in the hay??!!!!" And that from a woman who had tossed around "in the hay" plenty during her youth!
