When Deron was a little boy, he would wait with bated breath for the next holiday, be it Thanksgiving, Christmas, his birthday, summer vacation . . . His mother, mean mother that she was, completely without empathy for his excitement, would invariably say, "Don't wish your life away!"
Is that what happens when we forget what it's like to be a child?
