More David Seeleyisms -- from third grade, Claflin School, Newton, Massachusetts
Perhaps inspired by the requirement to memorize and recite poetry once a week, David Seeley (see http://marashgirl.blogspot.com/2011/10/claflin-school-david-seeley-and.html) could often be heard laughing as he recited the following poetic similes!
Your eyes are like pools -- cesspools
Your ears are like flowers -- cauliflowers
Your teeth are like stars -- they come out at night
Can't remember what he said about noses. If any of you, dear readers, had a David Seeley in your third grade class, or heard David Seeley's poetic efforts in third grade, or remember the rest of the similes in this poetic effort, please comment below!
we had a fellow student in our seventh or eighth grade class who was thrown out of the class when he, safely ensconced in the back of the room, raised his hand and said to Miss Hoyt, all of the above verses. Miss Hoyt's jaw fell, and did not regain its normal position until words flooded over it which were, 'off with your head', or in this case, 'to the principal's office'.
