H. H. Richardson, Newton Corner, & Armenia's Sanahin Monastery

Sanahin Monastery
Soon after Marash Girl's writing of yesterday's post on the historic H. H. Richardson church in Newton Corner, Massachusetts, Marash Boy directed her attention to this week's Armenian Mirror Spectator.  At the bottom of page three is an article which refers to the Sanahin Monastery, an Armenian monastery which has "a forest growing on the roof".  Sona Avagyan, in her article, "Sources Try to Clarify Catholicos' Comments on Sanahin Monastery", cites Karekin II, the Catholicos based in Etchmiadzin, Armenia, the "Catholicos of all Armenians", as commenting with pride on the new construction of Armenian churches in Armenia, and then, on being questioned, twice repeating, "I have nothing to do with monasteries up in the mountains."  As Marash Girl's parents might have commented in their Marash/Aintab dialect, "Hah Newton Corner, Hah Hayasdan".
