A judge ruled against Occupy Wall Street protesters, upholding a move by New York City and the landlord of the privately owned plaza to clear tents from Zuccotti Park and prevent protesters from bringing equipment back in.
3 cheers for private property rights, one of the bases for all other rights.
ReplyDeletewhat took them so long?
@petersonUp until now, as we understand it, the owners of the park were okay with the occupiers. If not, believe me, the occupiers would have been ousted long ago.
ReplyDeleteWas the judge's decision really all that surprising?
ReplyDeleteI just hope things remain peaceful. These pols are so shortsighted. We can include the discontent of the OWS movement and discuss changes in national/local policy now. Or, we can let the economic inequality/discontent continue unchecked indefinitely and have much larger social discontent a few years hence.
And today, in Boston, a judge sided with the protesters, temporarily anyway: http://www.boston.com/Boston/metrodesk/2011/11/occupy-boston-face-off-against-menino-administration-courtroom-today/PHTNf1ZmtDtzKVYti6DRlL/index.html?p1=News_links
