Dare to be a Daniel

Yesterday, at Marash Girl's Mother's Day celebration, Marash Girl asked a guest what the preacher's sermon was about.  The sermon was about Hannah, who was sterile, but prayed to God for a child and finally, well after child-bearing years, was granted the child.

Marash Girl did not remember the story of Hannah, but she well remembered the story of Daniel -- Daniel hearing God's call, early in life; Daniel, who prayed to God, despite the King's prohibition; Daniel thrown into the den of lions, fearless, as the lions stood and stared at Daniel and never moved . . .

And Marash Girl remembered one of her favorite childhood hymns, especially the chorus which she records for you below:
    • Dare to be a Daniel,
      Dare to stand alone!
Dare to have a purpose firm!
      Dare to make it known!

  1. Daniel was never alone, to wit: the 23rd psalm, as was shad reach, mechach and abednego, as the stood in the fiery furnace, the king beheld a fourth, whose light made the fire of the furnace pale by comparison, as was Elijah who stood steadfast, alone, so he thought before the hideous strength of Jezebel, until The Lord opened his eyes to behold the angelic armies of heaven three times larger than the mere earthly host of Jezebel, or Joseph alone in the pit he was thrown into by his brothers of envy, then later in the bowels of an Egyptian prison, only to be resurrected by god to be the second most powerful next to pharaoh, because Joseph had not forsaken god and therefore god had never deserted Joseph who then redeemed his people from slavery and his brothers from judgment, and finally, but not the last, because there are so many more in the bible, there is Sarah, Abraham's wife, who laughed when she overheard a conversation between her husband and the angel of our lord, that she would conceive a child, when she was already decades beyond child bearing age. Sure enough, a child was born, and was named Isaac, the father of twelve sons from whose loins came the twelve tribes, and from the tribe of Judah, The Lord Jesus Christ. Those who keep faith are never left alone, a fact to which our own grandmother Yepros attested.

    1. Isaac was the father of Jacob, who became the father of twelve, the twelve patriarchs, from whom came the twelve tribes.
