Opening a good novel for the first time after a long hard day of work is like being presented with dessert at the end of a full meal. Do you have the energy, or the appetite, to attempt something that looks so tempting? A little taste, and then the leap.
'The Day The Oil Wars Ended' is a great read. It is a slow burn thriller whose narrative is poetic prose. the author reveals an intuitive grasp of the Russian and American psyche, and a firm grasp of Soviet, Russian, and American history. The novel is punctuated by humor uniquely American and uniquely Russian. Couldn't put it down.
