Summer is coming (really?) . . . and we all scream for ice cream!

Who wrote the above ad?  Someone in their 60's or 70's?  Remembering the ice cream truck  slowly dinging its way down Lowell Avenue . . . and all the kids \ running to the front of the house, as they chanted, "I scream, you scream, we all scream for ice cream!"  . . . Was the ice cream artificially flavored in those days, as, Marash Girl is guessing, the flavors in Dunkin' Donuts and Starbucks' coffee are today? Are we, really, all screaming for artificial ice cream flavors?

  1. "Kook Aid, kook Aid, a five cent package makes 2 quarts of, Kool Aid, Kool Aid, a five cent package makes..." Is what we used to sing down at the baseball field during the summer and a sandlot game, when it was time for a break from the game, an dust and heat. Sugar and dye, pick your color, oh, and, of course ice cubes and water.

    1. Your comment brings to mind the "delicious" shurup (punch) that Grandma Yester Bosnian Vartanian would make with Kool Aid and some orange juice thrown in for good measure! It tasted a lot better than the Kool Aid that every one else was serving. Who knew her secret?
