Wild Turkeys At Home - Newtonville Avenue, Newton, Massachusetts

The wild turkeys and the tamed residents of Newtonville Avenue have learned to share their turf.  The  fellow backing out of his driveway paid no attention whatsoever to the wild turkey surveying the woods to the north of his home.  "Oh, we've learned to live with them in peace," he said when Marash Girl asked him if he had noticed that he had a visitor.  And the wild turkey, for that matter, paid no heed to Marash Girl as she approached to take his (her?) photograph!                   Photo by Marash Girl

  1. The two great metaphors in the Bible for the spiritual world and the material world are the wilderness and the garden. The 'howling wilderness' is indicative of the absence of God, while the Garden is indicative of the presence of God. We lost the garden and inherited the wilderness at The Fall. Genesis 3:15 is God's promise for that which was lost. It is a promise that encompasses the soul of man and the material world, which 'groans under the weight of sin'. As man repudiates the living God, the garden is ceded to the wilderness. This occurs on an individual basis, in the soul of man, and on a corporate basis in the civilization. Thus, it is not surprising to see the recrudescence of the wilderness in our world as a mirror of what has happened and is happening in the soul of the culture. We have become increasingly overrun with deer, bear, raccoons, and others. Their return is heralded as higher consciousness of the culture as it promotes the cult of nature. Jean Jacques Rousseau promulgated the presuppositions for these events, being in good standing with the French Philosophes of the eighteenth century. They provided the spiritual seedbed for the events that ensued in the las quarter of the eighteenth century, The French Revolution, and the positing of genocide and Terror as a righteous act. This grand design laid out by Robespierre and later Napoleon, became the template for the.West's shift from a judeo-Christian civilization to one based on a Lie.
